The transparent shapeshifters are looking for something that only a former Fantastic Dynamic scientist can provide. Scientist Malcolm Truss (Arye Yucky- Castle/Medical Examiner) jumps at the opportunity to complete his research that was shut down at MD. At the same time, Peter helps the Fringe team track down the shapeshifters, even though they are more advanced than the ones from his timeline. In the B tale, Walter meets with Peter but cannot accept that the adult Peter may be his son. It is a heartbreaking scene for both Peter and Walter, as Walter refuses to accept Peter in his life.

Wow, I dredge up when this show first out I could never find the time to watch it even though it seemed fascinating. Now that I have it on Amazon, I’m all caught up to season 4. It’s a fantastic show, I like the font. Walter and Astro are fantastic collectively it’s a sweet and caring dynamic. I like Olive and despised the Fo Olive taking anything from such a kind strong lead…as if Olive hasn’t suffered and lost enough. I’m hoping that with this new twist we’ve seen the last of fo Olive.

This one deals with the nature of ethical dilemmas. Specifically, Walter’s kidnapping of his every second son in an attempt to cure him (which in this incarnation failed and Peter drowned) and an ex-Fantastic Dynamic researcher who doesn’t see his work will first and chief be used as a stealthy military stick. Very well written episode. It was a bit heart-wrenching to hear Walter’s recollection of his son’s demise and the emotions seeing him as a grown man evoked. Ditto for the scientist when he realizes his wife is dead and all hope of reconciliation of their marriage is gone. Even the small tidbits were thought provoking: Olivia and her sister were raised by Nina Astute in lieu of state foster care; and apparently she is slipping into the temporal fold again, like when she flipped between universes a season or two back. I did reckon the twist was honestly televised before it happened but as they quickly established the speed and ferocity of the shapeshifter it ultimately worked. Only rarity I really noticed was that when you know you have two targets send two teams, one to each location. They just seemed to pick one and gamble on it being the aptly choice. Maybe it’ll be address in a subsequent episode. Even so, THIS is what brilliant scifi must be: exploring humanity and way of life through technology and interactions. The espionage and action didn’t hurt either.
